The key to business success is assembling the right group of leaders to run it. Our primary objective when assembling our initial leadership team was to create a mix of relevant experience, expertise, intelligence and energy. While our team is by no means complete, we strongly believe that we have assembled a group with the talent needed to succeed.
Patrick Migliore, CEO, is a proven leader, with more than eight years' experience in key management positions, including directing his own consulting firm for small businesses. Some of Patrick's clients have included startups, service providers and restaurateurs. He has advised clients in the areas of strategy formulation and implementation, marketing, building brand equity, and customer relations. Patrick has also spent more than four years as general manager of companies with more than fifty employees. He currently sits on the Board of Directors of the Kentucky Life Sciences Organization, an entrepreneurship society in Kentucky. He received his M.B.A. from the University of Louisville with a 4.0 GPA, and has continued his professional education in areas such as drug development and pharmaceutical negotiations.
Sufan Chien, M.D. is also co-founder of Novera. He has over 30 years experience in the areas of transplantation and metabolic studies. Dr. Chien is also co-inventor of the technology to deliver ATP to cells using lipid vesicles. He has spent nearly ten years on the NIH review board that awards SBIR (Small Business Innovative Research) grants to start-up companies. Dr. Chien will play a leading role in preparing grant applications on behalf of Novera.John Beran, Senior Vice President, has more than 15 years of financial and management experience that spans several vertical industries, including healthcare, biotechnology, and entertainment. John served as CFO at Aurora Health Care. Aurora is a $1.6 billion health care company located in Milwaukee, WI. He later served as Vice President of Operations for SpectraCare, where he managed 1,200 employees. John began his career at KPMG as a CPA.
