Products & Technology - APPLICATION OF TECHNOLOGY ON WOUND HEALING - Increased Levels of VEGF
Vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) is known to play a critical role in wound healing, as it helps to reestablish blood flow (angiogenesis) during the healing process, as well as increase endothelial cell proliferation. Wounds of partial thickness were examined for changes in VEGF expression. We found that our product significantly increases both the VEGF expression rate and overall VEGF levels compared to control. Histological analysis of the wounds further indicated the presence of neovascularization in the treatment wounds much earlier (<Day 3), compared to the control wounds. In addition, the epidermis of the treated wounds was about 70 percent thicker at Day 15 compared to control, and there was a more mature collagen in the dermis of the treated wounds with more extensive interlacing compared to the control wounds — all of which suggests a better quality of healing when using our product. ![]() © 2007 Novera Pharmaceuticals.
